Description

This is part of a never-ending series of portraits.

I'm trying to experiment more with values.
Committing way too soon to really dark ones does not help.
That's one mistake I'll try avoiding.

Here's the progression:

In a lot of paintings I miss a certain sketchiness. Things are too fast too detailed. In a portrait-study like this, some of those sketchlines are appreciated. Although in my opinion I would have gone a little bit further. I seem to be missing a large chunk of the body. Because of the fast rendition her breasts are poorly shaped and even hinted wrongly, so my suggestion would be to keep on working a little bit on her breasts and clothing.

Her face on the other hand is, besides maybe a few anatomical issues, well rendered. Because of the very glossy rimlight on her lips, I would draw this further over her face. That would make it more of a whole again.
